The First Boba Tea Shop in London

Push your luck managing four queues of impatient customers outside a milk-tea shop.

The idea

You pick where in a queue the next customer should stand, then flip the card to see if they fit. Queues must stay in order. When someone doesn't fit, you either let them cut in (and the whole queue storms off) or throw them out (and lose two cards). Discard the fourth card of any rank and you're done for.

Setup

  1. Shuffle the deck face down.
  2. Deal 4 cards face up in a row — each one starts a queue.

How to play

  • Each queue must run from lowest at the bottom to highest at the top, with equal ranks allowed. Aces are low.
  • Choose a queue and a target spot in it: above the top card, below the bottom one, or between two neighbours.
  • Draw the top card. If it fits that spot, slot it in. Your turn is over.
  • If it doesn't fit, choose: let them stay — discard that whole queue and start it again with this card — or kick them out — discard this card and the next card of the deck, then draw again for the same spot.
  • You can kick out as many times as you like, but you can't change the target spot.

Winning, losing and score

You win
Get through the whole deck without discarding four of any rank.
You lose
The fourth card of any rank goes to the discard pile.
Score
Cards still in the queues at the end.

Tips

  • Sort discards into rows by how many of that rank are gone. The third row is the danger zone.
  • Before drawing, you may look through the deck — just shuffle it afterwards.
